How to Add NMFC and NMFC Sub Metafields in Shopify for Shipduo

To ensure Shipduo can pull the correct freight classification data, you’ll need to add two metafields in Shopify for each product variant:

• NMFC
• NMFC Sub

These fields should be added at the variant level, since freight classification details may vary by product variant.

Step 1: Go to Custom Data Settings

• Log in to your Shopify Admin
• Click Settings in the bottom-left corner
• Select Custom data from the menu
• Click Variants

Step 2: Create the NMFC Metafield

• Click Add definition
• Set the Name as NMFC
• Under Type, choose Single line text
• Click Save

Step 3: Create the NMFC Sub Metafield

• Click Add definition
• Set the Name as NMFC Sub
• Under Type, choose Single line text
• Click Save

Step 4: Add NMFC Data to Products

• Go to Products in your Shopify Admin
• Select a product or variant and scroll down to the Metafields section
• Find NMFC and NMFC Sub under variants
• Enter the correct values for each field
• Click Save

Important: What Values Should You Enter?

The values entered should match the freight classification details for that product variant.

• NMFC = the product’s NMFC code
• NMFC Sub = the product’s NMFC subclass

This method ensures that the Shipduo app can pull the correct NMFC and NMFC subclass data from your Shopify store.
