How to Add Product/Variant Dimensions in Shopify for Shipduo

To ensure Shipduo can calculate dimensions correctly, you’ll need to enter a dimension metafield in Shopify for each product variant.

The value you enter depends on your Route Mode setting:

• If Route Mode is set to as_is: enter the actual shipping dimensions
• • For LTL or freight, use the full pallet dimensions
  • For small parcel shipments, use the full box dimensions
• If Route Mode is set to direct_pallet: enter the dimensions of the individual item being placed onto the pallet, so Shipduo can calculate the final pallet dimensions

Use the format below when entering dimensions:

LengthXWidthXHeight

Example: 6X9X2.5

Step 1: Go to Custom Data Settings

1. Log in to your Shopify Admin.
2. Click on Settings (bottom left corner).
3. Select Custom Data from the menu.
4. Click on Variants (since dimensions may vary per product variant).

Step 2: Create a New Custom Field

1. Click the "Add definition" button (top-right corner).
2. Set the Name as "dimension".
3. Under Type, choose Single Line Text.
4. Click Save.

Step 3: Add Dimension Data to Products

1. Go to Products in your Shopify Admin.

2. Select a product and scroll down to the Metafields section.

3. Find dimension under variants and enter the values in the following format:

LengthXWidthXHeight

Example: 6X9X2.5 (Length 6, Width 9, Height 2.5).

4. Click Save.

Important: Which Dimensions Should You Enter?

The dimensions you enter should match your Route Mode:

If Route Mode = 

as_is

Enter the actual shipping dimensions that will be used for the shipment.

Examples:

• LTL / freight: enter the full pallet dimensions
• Small parcel: enter the full box dimensions

If Route Mode = 

direct_pallet

Enter the dimensions of the product being placed onto the pallet, not the final pallet size.

This allows Shipduo to calculate the complete pallet dimensions accurately.

This method ensures that the Shipduo app can pull the correct dimension data from your Shopify store.
