How to Add Protection After Booking a Shipment

Didn't add Shipment Protection when you booked? You can still add it afterward — as long as the shipment hasn't been picked up yet. Once the carrier picks up the shipment, protection can no longer be added.
This article shows you how to add protection to an existing shipment before pickup.

⚠️ Important: Protection can only be added before pickup. After the shipment is picked up, the option is no longer available.

Step 1: Open the Shipment

  1. Go to your Shipments and open the shipment you want to protect.
  2. This opens the shipment page, where you'll see tabs like Details, Load, Tracking, Documents, Protection, Charges, and Notes.

Step 2: Go to the Protection Tab

Click the Protection tab. If no protection has been added yet, you'll see "No protection added yet."

Step 3: Add Protection

  1. Review the Terms & Conditions.
  2. Click Add Protection.
  3. Enter the requested details (such as the value of your goods) and confirm.

Your shipment is now protected against loss or damage in transit, so you can skip the slow carrier claims process and get reimbursed faster.

💡 Tip: Whenever possible, add protection right at booking — it's one less thing to remember, and it guarantees coverage is in place before pickup. For full coverage details, deductibles, and limits, see How Our Shipment Protection Works.

Troubleshooting

  • Don't see the Add Protection button? The shipment has most likely already been picked up — protection can't be added after pickup.
  • Not sure what's covered? Review the Terms & Conditions on the Protection tab, or see How Our Shipment Protection Works.
